On May 19th 2018, Jean Nicole Pulongbarit de Jesus was crowned Miss FIRE Philippines 2018. Jean is 26 years old and was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Winning one of the elemental crowns for the 18th season of Miss Earth Philippines has brought much pride and joy to Jean’s family in Edmonton and in San Rafael, Bulacan, the municipality she represented throughout her journey as a delegate. Jean’s life wasn’t always glitz and glam, at a very young age she was bullied for how she looked. She quotes: “Being bullied, I learned that respect is very important.Whether someone respects you or not, you should never let another person’s behavior deplete your manners because you represent yourself and not them.” Being a victim of intimidation has made Jean work hard and strive for her dreams but of course she has many people to thank for where she is now. – “I am grateful that I had many cousins and family around me that provided the feeling of security and support throughout my journey.” Jean Nicole Pulongbarit de Jesus is now residing in the Philippines, teaming up with local organizations to create a cleaner and better Philippines for many generations to come. She will be returning to Edmonton for a few weeks in the fall.
