GG Hawks of Edmonton managed to finish second after losing to Arriba Vancouver in the women’s finals of the 2018 FCVC All-Filipino Volleyball Tournament, October 6-7, in Calgary.

The Red Deer Warriors placed third.

In the men’s side, no Alberta team made it to the top three with the visiting Vancouver Elite taking the 1st spot, Arriba Vancouver bagging second place and Toronto winning the third spot.

Edmonton’s Oliver dela Paz said they will be hosting the tournament next year in Edmonton and hopes that an Edmonton team will make it to the top three in the men’s division.

“Defending champions kami kaso na eliminate kami sa quarterfinals but we still had fun,” said dela Paz.
The two-day league, dubbed the “Western Cup”, was organized by the Filipino-Canadian Volleyball Club(FCVC) and supported by Urban Real Estate, Best Auto Detailz, Adobo Experience-Memorial Drive, Fantasy Donuts&Pretzels, Cecille Sanchez Mortgage Broker, Powerhoops Canada and Star Magazine.
