An epic and monumental event will be happening this summer for the Filipino community in Alberta. The City of Edmonton will be hosting the 2020 Golden Balangay Awards on August 1, 2020. It will be a first for the city to host the gathering of the crème de la crème of Filipino Canadians from all walks of life – students, professionals, workers, seniors and community leaders. It will be a weekend long celebration of our people, our culture and our achievements, and, to honor the valuable/significant contributions of our kababayans to our community and to the Canadian society.
The Golden Balangay Awards (GBA) is a nationwide search for outstanding Filipinos across Canada. It aims to promote excellence, hard work, higher education, entrepreneurship, public service, positive relationships and community involvement. The award symbolizes our journey as migrants and carrying our people today to their cherished goals.
Nominations will be opening soon. Further details on the nomination and awarding will be announced shortly.
