I always try to look at the positive side of things. When the Federal Government bought the Trans-Canada Mountain pipeline, I was happy to see that the Government was serious about helping Alberta get back on its feet after the oil crash that crippled Alberta’s oil industry and affected Canada’s overall economy.
No matter what the Trudeau Government does, it must understand that oil is still Canada’s number one export product. Sadly, in the past year, workers in Alberta have experienced massive layoffs from companies because of the weak economy. While measures to try to stop the slide is in place, the reality cannot be ignored that many Canadians especially Albertans worry about their future. Recently, I received information of another mass layoff. So when will this slide stop?
Figures show there are a lot of companies hiring but in the real world, how many are truly hiring? Some individuals have handed out hundreds of resumes without receiving any response from prospective employers. I hope the provincial government will have a better way of tracking these in order for them to know how many companies are actually hiring and that these are not mere job postings to collect resumes.

The Filipino people is starting to lose respect for Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau because he has not acted on the three sea cans’ worth of garbage that was shipped from Canada to the Philippines. They could not understand why a first world country like Canada was not aware that the sea cans contained garbage. Has the shipper been identified? If yes, why are the 3 containers still sitting at the ports of Manila? What is causing the delay? I hope the Mr. Trudeau can give us some concrete answers as to when he will act on the three sea cans filled with garbage.

I recently had a chance to visit a very good friend, Undersecretary Joel SyEgco of the Presidential Task Force on Media Security (PTFOMS) at his office in Malacañang. It isn’t easy to be in his position investigating all these media killings. It takes a lot of dedication and time and is very risky because you really do not know who you are up against. But I can tell you he is the best person for the job for he is very dedicated to what he is doing and is genuine in his efforts to help media practitioners. He has already solved numerous cases and continues to work on high profile cases, the latest being the killing of Albay Broadcaster Joel Llana. I know the good Undersecretary will not leave any stone unturned and get to the bottom of each case.
