CREATE PHILIPPINES: Promoting Philippine -Canadian Partnerships in  the Audio Visual Industry

The Philippine Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Toronto is pleased to announce the forthcoming Business Mission for the Audio Visual Industry to Toronto and Ottawa, Canada on September 22-27, 2019. Organized by the Department’s Export Marketing Bureau in cooperation with the Film Development Council of the Philippines and the Animation Council of the Philippines Inc. (ACPI), the Mission aims to target Canada as a major trade and investment partner and a major market to promote Philippine audio visual services.

Also known as the Trade Office of the Philippine Consulate General in Toronto, DTI-Toronto will hold a Trade Forum which will present the Philippine-Canada Co-Production Treaty, an agreement that paves the way for the Philippines to promote its audio visual services and IP assets and build partnerships with Canada. The Forum will also highlight the signing of at least one MOU on a specific collaboration program to enhance and improve the skills of Philippine talents in storyboarding & animation capabilities to streamline the production process for creative professionals and animation studios as well as in film co –production. B2B meetings and networking will follow after the Forum.

On September 24-26, the Philippines will also be a “featured country” at the The Animation Conference (TAC) during the Ottawa International Film Festival (OIAF), an event that aims to gather the animation community wherein artists, producers, students, and animation fans from around the globe.

The PH delegates will also visit Canadian schools and studios to expose them and broaden their knowledge on the latest technological trends in the industry.

The business delegation is composed of at least eleven (11) companies from the audio visual industry covering film, game development and animation services, production and IP content developers and creators, an industry association and stakeholders. The Mission will be led by the DTI Undersecretary Rowel S. Barba and will be composed of the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), Animation Council of the Philippines (ACPI), together with the 11 audio visual companies namely, TeamApp, Inc., Morph Animation Inc. (Toon City), Blissful Fun Animation, Inc., Animation Vertigo, TOIE Animation, FizzBuzz, Inc., Cordillera School of Digital Arts, Inc., ZigZag Studios, Inc., Toast and Brew Animation and Game Design Studios, Inc., Eight Horses Production, Inc. and F-squared Technologies, Inc.
