Filipino Business Entrepreneurs: Re-Invigorating the Spirit of Oneness

By Bayani Alcantara

No bad weather can hinder a good intention.

On the 15th of November 2017, almost 70 well-known Filipino Business owners and entrepreneurs were gathered at Emilio’s Inasal, South of Edmonton to attend the meeting and discuss new proposals and a positive direction towards the establishment of the newly organized group. As per agreement made by the majority of attendees, the application to the Corporate Registry as a non-profit organization be immediately filed. A start up membership fee was collected prior to the meeting.

Prior to this meeting, an initial orientation was held last October 21, 2017 at Panciteria De Manila, also in Edmonton. The topic about small business taxation was clearly discussed by the Member of Parliament-Edmonton West, Kelly McCauley and the late Senator Tobias Enverga. In attendance was the our Consul General of Alberta and Saskatchewan, Honourable Julius Torres.

This meeting was initiated by the following: Resty Reyes of Fly Friendly Travel and Tours, Allan Zoleta of Pacific Welder and Motive Power Services Ltd., Aurelio Sumalinog of Ellwood Daycare and Out of School Care, Oscar Dela Paz of Midwest Heating, Celso Andrade of Sunfreigt Cargo,
Bayani Alcantara of Panciteria de Manila, Marjorie Bacol Carmona Newman of MCN Canada Immigration Consulting, and Atty. Joseph S. Angeles – Legal Adviser from Angeles Law Office.
This group is looking forward to see and encourage all Filipino business entrepreneurs to join.

Special thanks to Benjie Lindo of the Duterte Volunteers of Alberta for indefatigably disseminating informations regarding this event. Also, Sharina Tan and Emilio’s Inasal Staff for the accommodation.
